Its early X-mas here at chez Adam. By the graces of my parents, I am now the proud owner of this:
A KitchenAid Professional series mixer, in color. I have now entered the seventh level of baking nirvana. Not only is it the best tool any cook could ever have it is, for me, iconic. In my opinion, there has never been a more perfect fusion of industrial and domestic design and never has the silhouette of any mechanical gizmo produced the wave of memories that this one does (except maybe an NES or a Genesis).
Memories of abject glee when being handed the mixing paddle replete with chocolate chip cookie dough. Memories of frustration because no matter how much I contorted my tongue I could never get that last bit of dough.
On a side note: The poor contraption had been sitting on a UPS truck all day in 29º weather that when I tried to remove it from the box my fingers were greeted with freezing metal, in a word, ouch.
And just for extra measure here is a picture of my first apple pie that I made for Thanksgiving. Next time the crust won't be from a box.
