The commercial was banned in Britain. Too racy, they thought (it was the phrase "bloody hell" that sent them into apoplexy--limited and English, but a kind of apoplexy). Mind you, some Aussies thought it was too risque, too.

But living in the OTHER land downunder, I must point to another tourism commercial:

However, it's an old Qantas commercial that wins the race. It features the song "I still call Australia home", written by the "boy from Oz," the late (gay) Peter Allen. As an American living in New Zealand, I think the song is the best patriotic/sentimental song about a country ever written, bar none. It's mix of patriotism, nostalgia, longing and optimism make it unique. A version of the commercial ran in America. There are several versions on YouTube, but this is one of the originals:

Have a great time, Adam!

have a fabulous time!

G'day Mate! Have a great time down under you lucky dog!

Have a WONDERFUL time Adam, and just don't forget to come back! (I'm afraid if I went down under, I'd pull a Mary Anne Singleton and never return to the U.S.!)

After being apart so long... I am quite sure they are boinking each other's brains out.

Happy Easter!!
