Flick is to Clinton

I was reading Jimmi's blog and he had a quote from one of my favorite movies, "Election" posted today, one of Tracy Flick's monologues. As I was reading it I thought to myself, "Holy crap! Hillary is like Tracy!"

Apparently others drew the comparison months ago:

Tee hee.

Bill Clinton knows what's best for gays.

Bill Clinton: Will there be more or fewer gay couples free of harassment if the law is that every gay couple could go to Massachusetts and marry would then have to be recognized in Utah?

Interviewer: When is that going to change though if you're not willing to set a firm stance in either for or against it?

Bill Clinton: So you don't care what the practical implications are?

Well I don't think that needs any explanation, Bill was good enough to be blatant about his political skullduggery. Wow, what a champion of gay people!

Under Barack Obama

I'm so amused by this.

The guy who plays Obama is very attractive IMO.

I want my $50 back, Hillary

If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman ... he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.

-Geraldine Ferraro

This is the SECOND time that someone from the Hillary Clinton camp (first gaffe was from Bill) has insinuated that black presidential candidates are novelties, tchotchkies meant to make us feel warm and cozy about our visit to the museum of democracy that we all visit every four years during a general election but aren't really worth anything.

Bullshit! Totally offensive, racist, and disgusting. Clinton needs to call for Ferraro's resignation, she needs to apologize for the remarks, and she needs to send me a refund for the $50 I gave her campaign. Stick a fork in Hillary, she's done! If she wins the nomination John McCain is as good as elected.

On top of this, Clinton even suggested that the pledged delegates, the delegates that are voted for in the primaries and caucuses, can change their mind at the convention. Is that a threat lady? I'll add this comment to the heap of other bullshit where she basically said that McCain would make a better president than Obama.

Whatever gets you there, right?

This quote, from a Texan no less, cracks me up:

Richard Reardon, 64, a security officer and veteran, said: “I’ll be honest. Maybe 20 years ago, I’d never have voted for a black man, but after the Bushes and the Clintons, give the man a chance.”

So basically you used to be a racist but the performance of the Bushes and the Clintons in politics made you kinda-sorta not racist?

Yeah, okay I can see that. Whatever gets you there.

From Barnstorming Obama plans to pick Republicans for cabinet

Voted

I voted.

I'm still baffled at my polling place. It's an approximately 400 sq. ft. room that serves two precincts in the most densely populated neighborhood in Dallas. Basically, it's too small. On top of that there are usually old people who run the polling place who don't know how to direct human traffic so it turns into a huge clusterfuck. Luckily, there was a woman with a loud voice telling people which way to go. I told her she was doing a terrific job and thanked her. It cannot be easy working at a polling place.

In spite of the disarray it didn't take too long. All of us in the Democratic line were in a good mood and were joking that there wasn't a line for the Republican ballots. The old man with the thin binder of Registered republicans in precincts 1233 and 1232 kept asking the lady with the loud voice if there were any Republicans and she kept saying, "Sorry, no." Someone said at a medium volume, "They're all in Plano!" Even the cop chuckled. It's nice to know that the neighborhood is holding even with all the overpriced bouzhy townhomes being built.

Tonight after the polls close is the caucus, but I don't think I'll be going to that. I'm sure you've all heard about the lovely system that we have here in Texas, primary then come back and caucus. It's the dumbest thing ever and should be changed. Anyway, I'll let the truly passionate ones take care of the caucus. I'll be at the gym, developing my muscles instead. All things in moderation you know.

Obama camp claims smear over turban photograph

This unfortunate incident combined with the recent announcement of Ralph Nader's candidacy has made me rethink my position on the election. I'm tired of losing. I'm tired of smear politics (That "Xerox" line made me cringe). I want results, not scandal. Even though I've criticized Obama for giving feel-good speeches I've thought about it, and I'd rather have that than slimeball politics from the Carville/Penn/Begala scorched-earth war machine. The character of a candidate's staff reflects on the candidate themselves and the way they will behave in office.

Before Hillary announced her health care plan I wasn't too excited about her running because I didn't like her politics. Then it seemed as though she had changed, but lately she's been demonstrating that she hasn't. We don't need another president who's loses grace under fire.

It's time for some new blood. I'm voting for Barack Obama on March 4th.

Yes Maybe We Can.

Last night the Senate voted on a bill that gives immunity to telecom corporations if they "aid" the government's domestic spying program, delivering President Bush a victory on one of his signature national-security issues.

Senator Clinton did not vote as she was not present, she was in Texas campaigning.

Senator Obama, however, was present. He voted "yea" on a few attempts by Senators Feingold, Feinstein, and Specter to amend the measure to make it less fascist. They tried and failed. He voted "nay" on the motion of cloture for the bill. However, when the time came for the final vote on the bill he abstained.

Wait, what? Abstained? What about the change? On the issue of giving immunity to phone comapnies who spy on their customers for the government Senator Obama didn't vote?! Why not vote "Nay" and be a voice of change Senator Obama? What happened to the change wagon?

It's interesting to note also that one of Obama's most vocal proponents, his colleague in the Senate, Claire McCaskill from Missouri voted "yea" on the final bill, thus voting "yea" for expansion of spying.

Oh yeah. I can feel that change a comin'!

Roll Call for S.2248

UPDATE: According to this article in the New York Times, Senator Clinton issued a statement saying she would have voted against the final measure if she were present.
