Brad and I saw Stevie Nicks earlier this summer here in Dallas. She stopped here on tour this year and she was amazing. I've always been a fan of her, especially when I lived in Arizona. There's something about her music and her voice that lends itself to quiet contemplative moments out in the desert, observing the mountains, and the wildlife. Sigh, I miss living in a beautiful place. I digress...
After lunch I was trolling about MySpace and came across a video that is simply amazing. Because I've been tainted by contemporary standards of mainstream musical performance it's quite astonishing to me that Nicks is not lip synching, and that she's just jamming out in her dressing room in this video. Watching this now, in a time where artists seldom sing their own "music" (rather they preform it in a lurid dumb-show), gives me a melancholy feeling - happiness that talent exists tempered with fear of whether or not it's apexed.

Update on the cats: The "tenant" was contacted and he picked up the cats this morning. Not sure how they'll fare with him given that he doesn't seem like an apt caretaker, but at least they're not trapped in the condo anymore.
"The Dumb Show" -- it seems pervasive at all levels of our culture. And not just in entertainment, but in government as well.
I may have to write about that.
Stevie Nicks would never be in participate in a dumb show. She is too much a free spirit from a time that seems to be slowly but surely slipping by.

I'm sad there wasn't something more to the cat story. I wanted you to be their savior. :P She really isn't that bad I suppose. Why so down on Dallas?
